Casted Arucaria Branch with diamonds. Earring Posts.
This branch was casted into 925 Sterling silver, shaped into an earring hoop and set with 3mm VS1 Diamonds.
This branch of the araucaria tree or common name:
"monkey puzzle tree" lines the remote roads to the Yacui private reserve in Argentina. I had asked our naturalist Leandro about the odd looking tree casually on the road trip. A couple hours later we pulled off the road. He found a fallen branch and gave it to me to see up close. The tree is actually endangered today and is now protected under Appendix I of CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora).
This jewellery peice is a part of the exhibition in collaboration with awasi Iguazu entitled "In situ": In Situ is a Latin phrase meaning "in the original location." It refers to scientific experiments conducted in the site under study.
In this collection I consider each jewelry artifact to be the result of my field research in the jungle — while on art residency with @awasiexperience ~ a carbon neutral Relais chateaux nestled in the Atlantic Rainforest
